About Carolyn Dixon, LMT

After a medical crisis spanning four long years left her nearly unable to walk from room to room in her own home, Carolyn began a journey that would eventually lead her down the path to pioneering what would become one of the most groundbreaking approaches in massage therapy - corrective massage.
After completing physical therapy, she noticed that although she had regained the ability to do certain isolated movements and was therefore considered a “successful” graduate of the physical therapy program she had been prescribed, much of the essential functions that allowed her to carry out daily life in a comfortable and efficient manner were lacking - not to mention the fact that she was nowhere near ready to begin rigorous physical activity.
Thus began the search for answers. What she found was surprising.
Through the course of the next two years, she underwent intense sessions of corrective massage on a weekly basis to reverse the soft tissue adhesions that had formed as a result of years of medically necessary inactivity.
Upon experiencing the extraordinary results of this method of bodywork, she chose to attend massage therapy school to learn how to provide this work to those who need it the most.
Since obtaining her license to practice massage, she has also collaborated with corrective chiropractors and corrective movement specialists.
By partnering these three approaches to health, she is able to take the client from a state of dysfunction and painful existence - often facing down unwanted surgeries that are seen as a last resort - and bring them to a place where they’re not only feeling better but living and moving better as well.
She understands that the body is more than the sum of its parts and that for optimal function, all the pieces need to work together in unison.
That is the exact reason why she chose corrective chiropractic care and corrective exercise/corrective movement to be the perfect complements to her massage work.
Without all three pieces, she’s noticed that many clients will “plateau” after reaching a certain level of improvement - never quite reaching their full potential until they incorporate all three components. Utilizing all three components allows for improved rehabilitation, injury prevention, and optimized performance.
Coordinating care for clients with two or more other providers could be a full-time job in and of itself, yet she manages cases with ease and professionalism - even teaching and mentoring other massage therapists who wish to learn her techniques to provide to their clients.
Her passion for the health and wellbeing of her clients really shines through in everything that she does - from the years of research behind the development of this work to its ever-evolving implementation.
